Myself and a friend will soon be flying into Phoenix, renting a car and journeying to Sedona. We will be there for a short 4-5 days and wish to live simply on the earth there. Cooking over fire, tenting, meditating, bathing, etc. Last time I pilgrimaged there was 8 years ago and I believe many things have changed. I parked my car on Schnebly (sp?) Hill road and camped...is this still realistic?
Thank you for your help and guidance.

Re: Journey to Sedona
Thu, February 9, 2006 - 4:50 PMIt's still pretty remote, but you may want to contact the forest service (Red Rock Ranger District office in Sedona) to make sure there aren't any restrictions, as there is sometimes a limit on the number of days you can camp. Things may be slightly more crowded there since your last time as AZ has grown pretty dramatically.
The one thing I know has changed is that you now need to purchase a Red Rock Pass for $5/day, $15/week or $20/year to do anything outside of your car in the forest. -

Re: Journey to Sedona
Sun, February 26, 2006 - 6:58 PMI love Sedona as well.
I do know that in order to camp there, you must camp on a developed camp site. I guess the reason is that there are so many people that go through there and they want the land to be left alone and not trampled by to many people.
Good luck!
