Anyone been to Sedona? and do you believe in the power of the vortexes? I'm not sure I do but one night while I was camping near Bell Rock...I heard yelling but it was all around me but far away in the distance. Almost like Indians. WEIRD!

My grandparents lived in Sedona for many years & my grandpa's family was one of the original families in the area. He used to amuse me by telling me some of the more off-color names for the rocks in the area (the ones standing straight up, if you get my drift).

I never experienced anything around the vortexes myself, but Sedona has been a center of spirituality from early Native American times.

I know it took families FOREVER to get down into Sedona from flagstaff in their carrages. They got food and supplies from Flagg.

They used to travel down via Schnebly road. My grandpa drove us down it one day, in his rickety truck with a trailer attached. It's a windy dirt road that goes down cliffs and has some rather dramatic drops. It was gorgeous *AND* terrifying.

I haven't been to Sedona in years. We stopped through on the way to visit my uncle in Page in the '94 or '95 so, and that was the last time. Before that, we spent a lot of time there before it was "discovered." Gorgeous, gorgeous place, at the time it had more of a "typical small Arizona town" feel to it. I guess it was only a matter of time.

I REALLLLLLY hope they don't ruin Sedona with tourist traps. There already are many.

In a way... too late. And too many gated communities/condos/whatever. I liked Sedona better when it had a rough and tumble feel to it. But then again it was only a matter of time before Sedona got discovered. It's just too gorgeous a place.

I've always thought that the weirdest thing about Sedona is the fact that, coming from Flagstaff, the first thing you see is a Dairy Queen in the middle of the woods. What's that all about?
